With the weather warming up, please, please, PLEASE, DO NOT, leave your loved one(s) in the car. Even with the windows cracked, it is not enough. See for yourself in this wonderful video made by Dr. Ernie Ward just how DANGEROUS a car can be to your dog.

Fireworks cause a 30% increase in lost pets every year!
Every year, animal shelters experience a 30% increase in lost animals when fireworks are set off. Protect your pet from becoming one those statistics by following these simple steps listed in the picture.
For added protection, make sure your pet has identification tags and better yet a microchip.
A new service is available through www.PetAmberAlert.com to help locate your lost pet as well.
Can you handle the heat?
Here in Oregon, when the sun comes out, we come out. We like to take advantage of every warm ray of sunshine we can get. Unfortunately with those brilliant rays of sunshine comes the heat, and you'd be surprised at how "Hot" things can really heat up.
A chart provided by Jan Null, CCM; Department of Geosciences, San Francisco State University to the American Veterinary Medical Association shows that within just 20 minutes a car's temperature will jump almost 30 degrees! That means your quick trip to the store, is causing your pet, the one you love so much and wanted to bring along, to be stuck inside an oven of 99 degrees; and that's only if the temperature outside is as low as 70 degrees. Imagine what it will feel like when the outside temperature rises to 80 degrees. The temperature inside your car will feel like 109 degrees! No amount of cracking the window will help.
So please, the next time you need to run an errand, ask yourself, "Would I want to sit in an oven at 109 degrees for even a few minutes?". If you have lots of errands to run and don't want to leave your dog in the heat outside, give us a call and we'll be glad to let your pet "chill out" in our home.
